Rio Olympic Games: Focus On Colombia And Not Brazil, says Mikel

By Augustine Akhilomen
Nigeria’s U-23 team captain, Mikel Obi has reiterated that the team’s attention will be focused on Wednesday’s encounter against Colombia regardless of a potential meeting with Brazil at the Rio Olympic Games.
The Dream Team VI qualified to the quarter final of the games after beating Japan 5-4 and Sweden 1-0 respectively, to sit top of group B with six points with a game to spare against Colombia on Wednesday.
It is believed that Nigeria could face Brazil in the knockout if the host team come second in group A behind Denmark after managing two points in their last two matches.
However, Mikel, who still believe Nigeria can progress beyond the quarter final stages of the competition, revealed that they are focused on playing Colombia before thinking of Brazil.
“It is good to avoid the home team , of course , but we will be attentive to the next game. Then we think of Brazil,” Mikel told reporters, according to the online edition of TV Globo.
“If there is a chance to play with them? Yes of course. Very possible but let’s think of a game at a time . Then you think about it.”
