Omeruo leaves Chelsea, Joins Alanyaspor

Super Eagles and Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo has joined newly-promoted Turkish club Alanyaspor on a season-long loan deal.

The defender went through a successful medical at the new Super-Lig
club in the early hours of Wednesday in Turkey, and expressed great
delight as he returned to play professional football in the Turkish
top-flight in the new season.

Reacting on his arrival on Wednesday, Omeruo wrote after his arrival
at the Istanbul airport on his Instagram wall. “These guys are amazing,
came to the airport as early as 3am to wait for my arrival back to
Turkey. Most of them I don’t even know,” Omeruo stated.“I love you guys
and will never forget this love even my god daughter came to welcome me.
I love you princess @ayogold79 much love thanks dear.”

Omeruo renewed his Chelsea contract less than 24 hours ago, and he
immediately embarked on Turkey trip for a season-long loan move where he
is sure of first team action this season. He has played for several
clubs on loan since joining the Blues in the summer of 2012 such as, ADO
Den Haag, Middlesbrough and last season with another Turkish club,
Kasimpasa.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old defender saw his ‎move to Spanish side
Real Betis hit the rock after he turned down a 50% pay cut on his
Chelsea salary to extend the Blues contract. He was also linked with
other Spanish clubs like Celta Vigo and Espanyol, but his ‎salary proved
to be the stumbling block.
