Super Eagles trio of Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi will face a difficult task in their quest of making it through to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League after Thursday’s draw.
Reigning Premier League champions, Leicester City have been pitted alongside Porto, Club Bruges and Copenhagen in group G as Musa will be craving for another upset for the Foxes.
Musa who isn’t a stranger in the elite competition after featuring for CSKA Moscow, knows that the team must start getting quick results early if they are to qualify from the group.
Also, Kelechi Iheanacho’s Manchester City have been handed a tough test as they face ‘almighty’ Barcelona, Borussia Monchengladbach and Celtic in group C. It will be another home coming for City coach, Pep Guardiola and newly signed goalkeeper, Claudio Bravo who just concluded his £17m deal on Thursday from Catalan’s club.
Iheanacho could be giving a good run of experience under Guardiola and will be determine to smile over the more illustrious team of Barceolna that has Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Andre Iniesta and Neymar.
In addition, Alex Iwobi’s Arsenal will confront Paris Saint Germaine, Basle and Ludogorets in group A of the UEFA Champions League.
Iwobi’s last season’s Champions League experience could propel him to making an appreciable impacts for the Gunners who are yet to make a meaningful impact in the transfer market.
