Alex Iwobi and Chuba continued their impressive form for Arsenal with goals as Kelechi Iheanacho’s second half strike for Manchester City proved a mere consolation in their 3-2 defeat to the Gunners in a club friendly on Sunday played at the Nya Ullevi stadium in Norway.
While Iwobi started and played 69 minutes before making way for Campbell, Chuba Akpom and Iheanacho both came on from the bench for the respective sides in the 78 and 68 minutes respectively.
Sergio Aguero’s first-time finish across Cech from Sterling’s precise cross gave the Citizens a first half lead but the Gunners drew level after Iwobi benefited from a pull-back cross from Walcott to bend his strike into the bottom corner five minutes after the break.
Theo Walcott added the encounter’s third and Arsenal’s winner inside the final 17 minutes to extend the Gunners’ unbeaten pre-season run. The Gunners made the most of a defensive error when Akpom added Arsenal’s third with a composed finish for his fourth goal in his last four games before Iheanacho’s flicked header past Cech made it 3-2.
