Jasper Cillessen agrees 5-year deal with Barça |
It appears that FC Barcelona’s hunt for a goalkeeper has come to an end as Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has agreed to sign for the Catalan club in a 5-year deal, according to reports from Netherlands source De Telegraaf.
Barça’s first choice goalkeeper Claudio Bravo is on the verge of joining Manchester City this summer and will play his last game for Barça against Real Betis in La Liga. The Catalan club have been in the market for some time now searching for his replacement. At first, it looked like Valencia 31-year old shot-stopper Diego Alves was the chosen one but it was reported that Barça preferred to make Cillessen their second keeper over the Brazilian.
According to Telegraaf, Cillessen has agreed a 5-year deal with FC Barcelona who will pay a fee of around €14 million for the Netherlands first choice goalkeeper. Cillessen was left out of coach Peter Bosz Ajax squad to face Willem II in the league for technical reasons as he looks set to sign his contract with FC Barcelona as soon as Claudio Bravo leaves to join Manchester City.
The deal won’t be announced until Bravo leaves, transfer was delayed because of the knee injury sustained by Marc Andre Ter Stegen in training which will keep him out of action for an indefinite period of time. Cillessen has agreed to join, Ajax also seem to have given their OK to the transfer and all that is left is the final procedures for the deal before the official announcement.
Jasper Cillessen is a 27-year old Ajax goalkeeper and The Netherlands first choice shot-stopper. The star joined Ajax from NEC in 2011 and has made over 100 league appearances for the Eredivisie club. Cillessen is known for his amazing reflexes and is also good with his feet and will be a good backup goalkeeper for FC Barcelona.
