AFCON Qualifier: CAF Name Algerian Referee For Nigeria/Tanzania Match

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has appointed Algerian Mehdi Abid Charef to officiate the match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Taifa Stars of Tanzania in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nation qualifier next month (September) at the Adokiye Amiesiamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Charef will assisted by countrymen  Abdelhak Etchiali (first assistant), Ahmed Tamen (second assistant) and Mustapha Ghorbal (reserve referee). The match commissioner is Inyangi Bokinda from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

It is the Eagles last game in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers.The Eagles are already out of contention for a place at next year’s AFCON with Egypt picking the group’s sole ticket. The reverse fixture between Nigeria and Tanzania in Dar es Salam ended 0-0.

Meanwhile, top Nigerian official Paul Bassey will serve as match commissioner for the Cup of Nations qualifier between the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia and the Lone Star of Liberia, scheduled for Monastir, Tunisia.

Bassey, a member of the NFF technical and development committee, will work with South African referees Daniel Bennett (centre), Zakhele Thusi Siwela (first assistant), Mothibidi Stevens Khumalo (second assistant) and Tinyinko Victon Hlungwani (reserve referee). Essam Abbas Siam from Egypt will be referee assessor for the Group A match.
