Strikers FC Barcelona could sign this summer transfer window |
It is no longer news that FC Barcelona are interested in signing a striker this summer transfer window. The club believes they need someone they can trust to stand in place of any of Messi-Suarez-Neymar when they are not present and have outlined a lot of possible names.
After the signing of Samuel Umtiti, Lucas Digne and Denis Suarez, the Catalan Giants still have around €25 million to spend in this transfer window and they want to use it in incorporating a striker to their squad which will make their window a 10/10.
One night wonder the reason Barça want a striker despite the presence of
Munir El Haddadi as backup. The answer is simple: The club respect Munir and knows he’s good, that’s why they’ve extended his contract. However, they see him as a player who still has a lot to learn to be able to influence a game as a striker, hence, the club are in the market for an experienced name or at least a more reliable option.
There are a lot of strikers that have been linked with FC Barcelona this summer but we believe only four of these are genuinely feasible. In this article, we give you the names if these four players Barça could sign for the striker’s role this summer and the likelihood of the transfer to happen.
STRIKERS BARÇA COULD SIGN THIS SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW
LUCIANO VIETTO
The reports over the past few days suggest Sevilla are now favourites to land the striker on loan. Atletico Madrid will be happier to give the 22-year old out to Sevilla than strengthening a direct rival in Barcelona.
Despite these, Barça are not relenting on signing him. He’s still their most preferred option and they will still continue to try to sign him.
KEVIN GAMEIRO
Luciano Vietto is Barça’s most preferred striker option only because of how complicated the transfer for Gameiro is. Gameiro is what both Luis Enrique and Robert Fernandez want but they see him as too expensive.
The Frenchman had a good season in 2015/2016 for Sevilla and showed pure qualities of a world class striker. If Barça had the power to just pick who they want it’d be Gameiro, but Sevilla are asking €40 million for him to be released, a fee Barça consider too high for a 28-year old.
The club believe Gameiro will fit in well to the system and despite him being a temporary option, he could just serve as a backup for Suarez until Munir is ripe enough. The club are trying their best to sign him for a fee as as low as possible but Sevilla look very stubborn to let their top scorer leave so easily.
Possibility of happening: Like Vietto, Gameiro is interested in joining FC Barcelona. And also just like Vietto, he hasn’t said a thing about all the transfer speculations. The fact is Barça cannot pay 40 million for him and he might just slip away just like Nolito – 65%.
LUCAS PEREZ
If Barça really wanted a striker, they could get Lucas Perez very easily. The Deportivo La Coruna star is just as good as Kevin Gameiro, younger, cheaper and a lot more easier to sign.
Lucas Perez would never turn down a chance to represent Barcelona even if it means staying on the bench. He has a contract for 3 more years but can leave for as low as €10 million (as per Transfermarkt).
Personally, I see no reason why Barça are wasting time and not showing strong interests in signing him. He would be perfect for Barça, a striker of his quality can win you games.
Possibility of happening: Just like the other two, playing for Barça would be a dream come true for Lucas Perez. Signing him will also be easy but the only barrier to this is Barcelona as the club aren’t really showing strong interests. It could happen if Vietto and Gameiro don’t arrive – 55%.
GABRIEL ‘GABIGOL’ BARBOSA
He is still very young, 19, a player that has an unreal eye for goal and is certain to leave Santos this summer. The only negative here is that Barça are not just convinced in paying much for him.
Juventus are said to be his most likely destination but Barça’s scouts were in Brazil on Saturday to watch him and see if they should exercise their rights on him or not. He is a gem from Brazil but it looks unlikely he’ll be wearing the red and blue of Barça anytime soon.
Possibility of happening: Barça have not made any major hint in signing him. However, there is still a possibility – 50%.
The main reason Barcelona are finding it hard to sign a good striker is the presence of the
Messi-Suarez-Neymar trident. Players feel these guys are indispensable and have concerns over their playing time. But the good news is that the club have promised to bring in a striker as soon as possible so we just have to be patient.
