Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez has told the club he wants to leave and join Barcelona, according to reports.
Mahrez is believed to have rejected a new contract offer from the
Foxes, as he eyes a move way with Barcelona now reportedly interested.
The 26-year old has been with the club on pre-season tour and has
also held talks over extending his deal but reports now suggest he is
eyeing a move to the Spanish champions.
It will come as another blow to the Premier League champions, who
have lost N’Golo Kante to Chelsea ahead of their first ever appearance
in the Champions League.
While Leicester are expected to play hardball, it is believed they
will sell the Algerian eventually especially if Barca can their £35m
valuation of him.
The Foxes have managed to keep top scorer from last season Jamie
Vardy, who snubbed the chance to join Arsenal, but understand that Kante
may not be the only star from their remarkable campaign last term that
will be snatched away from them.
Barcelona have already completed the signings of Samuel Umtiti,
Dennis Suarez and Lucas Digne, and are believed to be looking at adding
Mahrez to the mix so as to give them better attacking options for the
new season.
