Lagos Derby: MFM, Ikorodu United in mouth-watering tie

By Augustine Akhilomen
Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministry Football Club will be
hoping to compound the woes of Ikorodu United in the Nigeria
Professional Football League at the Agege Township Stadium in Sunday’s
Lagos derby.
The last time both teams met it ended in a goalless draw in
the first stanza of the league and Sunday’s clash will afford newly
appointed Ikorodu United coach, Theo de Jong an opportunity to get one
over MFM.
MFM sit 12th on the table with 30 points while Ikorodu United are placed 19th on the log with 15th points.
Having employed former Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Ike
Shorunmu and Shakiru Giwa as part of their technical crew,it is
expected the Oga Boys could experience a slight rise on the log.
Meanwhile, Michael Okoyoh has reacted to tough-talking MFM
FC players warning that underrating Ikorodu United will be at their own
peril in Sunday’s Lagos derby.
“We depend on collective abilities and that gives us an
edge. They (MFM FC) can underrate us if they like, but that will be at
their own peril.
“We will approach the game with as much maturity as we
can.”People shouldn’t forget that it is a Derby, so it’s a game of
chance. We hope to take our chances.”

It will be good news for MFM as they will welcome back Stephen Odey who was injured in a match against Shooting Stars.
