Guardiola drops Iheanacho from Man City pre-season tour

Kelechi Iheanacho has been dropped from Manchester City’s provisional squad list for their pre-season tour, according to the Manchester Evening News.

In a 32-man travelling party to their tour of Germany and China, the 19-year old’s name is conspicuously missing, a development which has now raise hopes in Nigeria he may eventually be allowed to represent his country at the Olympics.

The list named by Guardiola is however expected to change subject to visa applications.

The Citizens have initially blocked Nigeria’s attempt to have Iheanacho in their Olympic squad, with the club insisting they would have him for pre-season rather than allow him represent Nigeria at the Games in Brazil.

While he has not been listed for the tours of Germany and China, itis however believed he could still be added to the squad for the pre-season games against Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund in China.

Iheanacho scored 14 goals last season mostly coming off the bench, and will hope to play a more prominent role at the Etihad in the coming season.‎
