Federation Cup: Rivers Utd Beat 3SC To Qualify; Wikki, Warri Wolves, Nasarawa Progress

Rivers United FC defeated Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) 3-2 on penalties to qualify for the quarter-finals of the ongoing Federation Cup competition at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna on Wednesday.
The game ended goalless between the two Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) sides at regulation time, but United goalkeeper, Sunday Rotimi became the hero after stopping two penalties that helped his side to progress. Rotimi stopped Promise Ebiaku penalty and Oluyole Warlords goalkeeper’s kick, Niyi Fabiyi.
At the Ilorin centre, FC Ifeanyi Ubah defeated Katsina United FC 2-0 to also advance into the quarter finals of the Nigeria’s oldest competition. Suleiman Mohamed put the Anambra Warriors in front through a header in the 26th minute, before Okereke Maduabuchi doubled the lead in the 89th minute, as the game ended 2-0.
NPFL side, Nasarawa United FC defeated Dynamite FC 1-0 at the Lokoja centre to book their passage in the competition. Another NPFL side, Warri Wolves defeated Nigeria National League (NNL) club, Prime FC 5-6 via penalties at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi. NPFL leaders, Wikki Tourists FC ran away with a 1-0 victory against Plateau United FC at the Akure Township Stadium on Wednesday.
League champions Enyimba will face J.Atete for a quarter-final place following their 4-1 win on penalties after regulation time ended in a 1-1 draw. Peter Onyekachi scored for Enyimba as early as the 9th minute before Chinedu Ohanachom equalized for El-kanemi Warriors thirteen minutes later.
