Arsenal and Chelsea want Arda Turan |
English clubs Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing FC Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan this summer as both clubs look to rekindle their squad by strengthening the midfield for the upcoming season.
Arda Turan joined Barça from Atletico Madrid last summer but failed to perform up to expectation and the media have recently linked him away from the Camp Nou with English publication ‘The Sun‘ the latest as they report that Barça are willing to let the player leave for around £20 million.
According to The Sun, Arsene Wenger is keen on bringing the Turkey star to the Emirates this summer and his Arsenal side are leading the race in signing him. The coach is looking to make a heavy push for the premier league title this season and wants to deploy a midfield three consisting of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Arda Turan.
Arsenal will however face stiff competition from Chelsea as the West London club are strongly interested in striking a deal with the 29-year old with new coach Antonio Conte a fan of the player.
The report also stated that Arsenal and Chelsea are not the only clubs interested in signing Arda Turan ad Juventus are also monitoring his situation whilst clubs from his homeland Galatasaray and Fernebahce are trying their best to bring him back to Turkey.
Arda Turan couldn’t play for Barça for six months after his arrival due to the transfer embargo on the club. He rarely started a game but managed to pick up 2 goals and four assists. His agent recently made it public that his client will continue at the club as he wants to succeed wearing the red and blue colours of Barça.
“It is normal that there is interest in him, but those saying that Barcelona are willing to sell are false. Arda Turan is happy at Barcelona.”
These were the words of the player’s agent last week and it looks very likely that it is what will happen exactly. We at BarçaLens believe the club are ready to give Arda Turan a chance to prove himself this season and the player also wants to prove his worth. Luis Enrique wouldn’t want to let him go so soon.
