Rooney wants new deal, to retire at Man United

Wayne Rooney is ready to sign a new Manchester United deal and finish
his career as their midfield maestro, according to The Sun.

The England skipper has been praised by Roy Hodgson for his displays in a deeper role at Euro 2016.

And Wazza, 30, said: “I have a contract at the club that I want to
see out and wouldn’t be against extending it — but that’s up to the
club.”

Rooney has three seasons left on his current contract and believes he can play on even longer.

New United manager Jose Mourinho, who previously tried to sign Roo at Chelsea, is set to keep him as the Old Trafford skipper.

And England’s 52-goal record scorer is likely to keep the same
midfield role he has taken from United to France with the Three Lions.

Rooney points to Ryan Giggs as inspiration after the United legend
started as a flying winger and finished his career in his 40s as a
central midfielder.

Speaking in the new edition of the United We Stand fanzine, Rooney
said: “All players’ games develop and change over time — look at Giggsy
towards the end of his career compared to the beginning. What I can say
is I will continue to develop my game and adapt and improve throughout.

“Over time and with experience, you see the game and experience the game differently, which leads to different decisions.

“I think my record shows I have always enjoyed assisting goals as
much as scoring them and I also enjoy the involvement from deeper
positions.”
