Malaga sign Jony Rodriguez from Sporting Gijon

Spanish team Malaga CF have announced the signing of Sporting Gijon player Jonathan Rodriguez Menendez popularly known as ‘Jony’ on a four-year deal.

The highly rated winger joined Sporting Gijon in 2014 and has since grown into a promising player. He played a huge role in Sporting Gijon’s fight to avoid relegation in the 2015/2016 Liga season scoring five goals and providing 7 assists.

The 24-year old former FC Barcelona youth academy player pens a deal that will see him stay at the Andalusian club until the summer of 2020. And the transfer has been officially confirmed by both Sporting Gijon and his new club Malaga.

An official statement from Malaga to confirm the player’s transfer to the club read: “Malaga confirm, after the arrival of Keko Gontan, their second signing for the 2016/17 campaign: Jony Rodriguez, another of the most coveted youngsters from the last Primera Division season.”
