Gabon international
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has again talked up the possibility of leaving
German side Borussia Dortmund for a ‘dream’ move to Spain.
The 27-year-old is a target for several European powerhouses after he
scored 39 goals in all competitions in 2015-16, helping Dortmund
qualify for the Champions League following a second place finish behind
Bayern Munich.
Aubameyang visited the small town of El Barraco – from where his
mother and her family originated and reiterated his desire to play in
the country in the future.
“For me it is a dream to play here in Spain, because here I have part of my family,” he told the Avila newspaper.
“It has been my dream since I was very little.”
Aubameyang added: “I’m happy to be here because it has been a while.”
Real Madrid looks his most likely destination as he has consistently mentioned the Los Blancos as his first love.
“Real Madrid? There’s no deal in place, but… I promised my granddad I’d play there one day.
“I’ve said to myself, ‘Why go back to France [to join PSG] when I
left that league three years ago? Why not discover something new?’
“Like I’ve said before, I’d love to play in Spain and to finally enjoy a bit of good weather,” he told beIN Sports.
Aubameyang is the current holder of the African Footballer of the Year crown.
