Musa in action as CSKA Moscow win their sixth League title

Super Eagles vice-captain, Ahmed Musa won the Russian Premier League with CSKA Moscow in their 1-0 away victory at Rubin Kazan on Saturday.

Musa was in action for almost the entire duration, but was later substituted on the stroke of 90 minutes in the epic encounter. Russian midfielder, Alan Dzagoev scored the only goal for the Army Club in the 19th minute, to secure their victory, winning the title for a sixth-time record (in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons). CSKA won the league with 65 points from 30 matches.

According to statement released on the club’s website after the match, the club expressed gratitude for the support throughout the season. “Thanks to the victory over the “Ruby” in the final match of the season for the sixth time CSKA have won gold medals in the championship of Russia!” the statement reads.

Injured Nigerian striker, Aaron Samuel Olanare (who has been on loan from Chinese club Guangzhou R&F) also won the Russian title with CSKA. In addition to the six titles, the club have also won the Russian Cup seven times, Russian Super Cup six times, and one UEFA Cup.
