Rio Olympics: 'We must beat Japan' – Siasia

Head coach ‎of the national U-23 team, Dream Team VI, Samson Siasia has targeted a win in his team’s Group B opener against Asian champions Japan at the football event of Rio 2016 Olympics, which holds later this year in Brazil.

He was speaking on the recent draws that pitched his team with Japan, Sweden and Colombia adding that ‎he expects Nigeria to reach the knockout rounds of the tournament. In his words, Siasia said: “I am targeting a convincing win in our opening match. Japan won’t be easy, but we need to beat them well to take command of the group.”

“The win will give us the confidence for the matches for Sweden and Colombia,” he further added. Former Flying Eagles coach Samson Siasia however expressed concerns over Manaus, which is notorious for its high temperatures.

“The only difficulty I foresee is the hot weather in manaus for our first two games.” he said. “All the same, that can’t stop us,” Siasia concluded.
