Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun scored for his club FSV Mainz 05, but the goal was not good enough to fetch them victory as they suffered 2-3 home loss to FC Cologne in the German Bundes liga clash on Sunday.
Colombia attacker, Jhon Cordoba opened scoring quite early in the 8th minute for Mainz, before Balogun added the second in the 49th minute. But FC Cologne came back strong with three successive goals from Marcel Risse, Milos Jojic and Anthony Modeste in the 64th, 74th and 83rd minutes respectively, as the game finally ended 2-3 in favour of the visitors.
It was Balogun’s first goal of the season in his 16 appearances for Mainz in the ongoing season in Germany. The former SV DARMSTADT 1898 defender missed Nigeria’s 2017 AFCON double header qualifier against the Pharaohs of Egypt due to injury.
