Nigeria U-17 Ladies trash South Africa 6-0


Nigeria U-17 Women’s team, The Flamingoes, took a huge step in their quest to qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan after thrashing South Africa 6-0 in the first leg Final Round of the qualifiers.

Six first half goals – four from Rasheedat Ajibade and Two from Yetunde Fajobi- secured the emphatic win for the rampant Nigerian girls..

The game which was played inside the Abuja National Stadium saw the Flamingoes taking the lead in the third minute through Fajobi.

Ajibade doubled the lead in the 26th minute before making it 3-0 three minutes later.

Fajobi got her brace when she netted in the 31st minute to give the Flamingoes a 4-0 lead.

In the 32nd minute, Ajibade completed her hat-trick and added another goal in the 41st minute to end the first half 6-0.

In the second half, the Flamingoes continued from where they stopped, but failed to convert some of the chances that came their way.

The return leg comes up in two weeks time and will be played inside the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa.

The winner between the Flamingoes and South Africa will qualify for the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan.
