Enyimba beat NPFL newbie Ikorodu United

Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Enyimba secured their first win of the season, beating Ikorodu United 1-0 in their match day four fixture on Thursday.

Ugochukwu Leonard scored the winner a minute from time, converting Abu Azeez’s delightful cross.

It was a cruel end for the visitors who gave their all in the encounter and resisted all pressure from the Peoples Elephant to get a goal in the game until Leonards late strike.

The win came as a big relieve for Enyimba coach, Paul Aigbogun who has seen his side struggled in most of their games this season.

They started their campaign with a 1-0 defeat against Rivers United.

It was Ikorodu United’s first defeat of the season.
