Nigerian sports lawyer, Johnny Precious Ogbah, has advised the Golden Eaglets of the 2015 set to be wary of dubious agents.
The United Kingdom-trained lawyer explained that members of the 2015 FIFA Under-17 World Cup winning team “should be careful” of assigning the power of representation when it comes to contract signing with foreign clubs.
Ogbah was also quick to note that the families of the players should take the step in guiding their wards in order not to ruin their football careers.
“Please the Eaglets and their families and relatives should be very careful who they sign to represent their children,” Ogbah told supersport.com. ” There are many dangerous and dubious elements out there parading themselves as agents representing one club or the other and if they are not careful, they will end up ruining the careers of their children.
“When they get abroad they will collect their commission and leave the poor child in no man’s land without any support and this leads to the child not being able to fulfill the promise and potential he showed at a younger age.
“We should look for reputable names and agencies to handle our kids. It’s even best you go through lawyers that know sporting issues well. Think of the future of your kid first,” advised Ogbah.
