Nigeria’s U-17 side, Golden Eaglets on Tuesday beat FOSLA Football Academy 4-0 in a friendly match played at the NFFFIFA Goal Project Pitch in Abuja.
FOSLA Academy is owned by Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi, a former President of the Nigeria Football Federation.
Eaglets’ captain Kelechi Nwakali scored a first half brace with a clinical finish in the 10th minute and followed with a well-struck free kick from the edge of the box five minutes later. Midfielder David Enogela grabbed the third goal with a lively shot after a through pass from Nwakali.
On the other end, FOSLA’s Mustapha Kehinde saw his free kick miss target by the whiskers in the 34th minute. In the 40th minute, Emeka Ebere scored Eaglets’ fourth goal when he cleverly evaded his marker before slotting the ball behind goalkeeper Abddulazeez Yusuf.
FOSLA Boys were in the thick of action in the second half and Solomon Abraham nearly reduced the tally in the 77th but saw the ball roll away after beating goalkeeper Abdallah Suleiman as both sides battled till the end.[post_ad]
“The Golden Eaglets showed some maturity and I’m impressed with the team that played in the first half,”noted Peter Dedevbo, Head Coach of the U-20 Women National Team, who watched the encounter. “From my experience, the Golden Eaglets can always get better as they build up towards the World Cup.”
NFF Executive Committee member, Alhaji Ahmad Kawu; Deputy General Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme and; Mrs. Josephine Ebhodaghe, Principal of FOSLA Academy also watched the match.
