FC Barcelona’s socios do not want Qatar Airways on the club’s shirt and would prefer another shirt sponsor even if the Arabians provide the best economic offer.

In a poll conducted by TV3 and Catalunya Radio, which over 5000 socios took part in, Barcelona’s members do not want to continue with the Qatar branding on the shirts, even if it is the best economic offer. They prefer the brand to be scrapped and a new sponsor emerge.

The question asked in the poll was “Should Qatar Airways continue as Barça’s sponsor if they are the company willing to pay the most?”

Of those that responded to the poll, 51.5% said Qatar should go, while 41.3% prefer the company to stay if they offered the best pay, with the remaining 7.2% unable to make their mind up.

The Qatar issue is one of the things new Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu will have to tackle as the Arab company are Barto’s favourites.

Bartomeu have received his fair share of criticism from Joan Laporta and some other understanding Barca fans of preferring financial growth to promoting the club’s values.

Now, with the new president to stay for the next six years, he’ll have to decide if Qatar stays or leaves as shirt sponsors of FC Barcelona.
