Barcelona are interested in the signing of Juventus 30-year-old striker Fernando Llorente, confirms Madrid-based newspaper AS.
Llorente looks likely to be under the pecking orders following the arrival of Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala at Juventus and the players have been linked with AS Monaco, FC Porto, Manchester United and Real Madrid with Barcelona being the latest.
However, according to AS, Barcelona’s main reason for bringing Llorente to the Camp Nou is to bolster their chances of scoring from dead balls and set pieces and with Pedro Rodriguez likely to leave, the rumour is made more valid.
AS says Barcelona are in search of suitable back up for Luis Suarez and are banking on the former Athletic Bilbao striker to fill the role even if he won’t be able to play until January 2016.
However, the deal seems unlikely to happen due to the fact that Sandro Ramirez and Munir El Haddadi have been promoted to the first team and if Pedro leaves, Luis Enrique still has five strikers to choose from.
