Nigerian forward, Peter Osaze Odemwingie has thanked Stoke Boss, Mark Hughes, for his support.

The Nigerian international and Stoke City striker said his quick return to first team action underlines Mark Hughes’ believe in his ability.

The 33-year-old was on for ten minutes on his return to the Potters’ line up after a compulsory eight months break as a result of his cruciate knee ligament injury.

Quoting him:“I feel very happy, especially with the reception, and the encouragement I received throughout my injury,” Odemwingie said

“It was very motivating to return to action because no one expected me to be back before the end of the season.”

“The manager [Mark Hughes] trusts in my ability, which is a huge source of motivation for me,” he added.

“He is certain that with my experience over many years of playing the game, I will still be able to do the things right whenever I get selected.

“I must admit that I’m surprised to have returned so fast because I was hoping to play a few games in the reserves, but I notched a few goals in training and I felt great because the earlier you meet the enemy, the better for you.” He concluded
