NFF To Convince Ibe To Join Nigeria

The Nigeria football federation(NFF), will try their best to convince Liverpoolstarlet Jordon Ibe to turn his back on England.
The 19-year-old, who was plying his trade on loan at Derby County, was recalled by Brendan Rodgers last month and straight away drafted him into the first team squad, a decision hailed by many as a master stroke.
Ibe was born in South London but is eligible to represent Nigeria as his father David is from the African country.
Ibe has represented England at U-18, U-19 and U-20 level and should he continue his development, he is expected to be called up by Gareth Southgate for the England Under-21s squad for the European Championships this summer.
Victor Ikpeba, a member of their technical and development Committee, said as quoted by Liverpool Echo: “The federation is looking at Jordon Ibe.

“We need to change our philosophy and bring in these young players to help out especially after we missed out of the Africa Cup of Nations.”

Nigeria boss Stephen Keshi added: “I’ve been told he is a very good prospect with potential to become one of the best wingers in the world.

“I have not had time to watch him in any of his club’s games but definitely I will do so this season.”

He could still shift his allegiance if Nigeria offer him international debut for the senior side, which shouldn’t be a bad option for the youngster.
