Switzerland based Nigerian player, Steve Ukoh who made his debut for Nigeria against Ivory Coast on Sunday has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles can record a win when they play the Falcons of Sudan in an international friendly on January 17.
The former Swiss junior international, Steven Ukoh, whose application to represent Nigeria at senior level was recently approved by world football governing body, FIFA said he’s happy that his debut for the Super Eagles was applauded by fans.
“By the grace of God, I really enjoyed my first cap with Nigeria, I’m happy that people feel it turned out well and I agreed with them,”said Ukoh
The Eagles will take on the Falcons of Sudan who they lost to by a lone goal in Sudan during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier but the Sudanese weren’t lucky in Abuja after they were handed a 3-1 defeat. Ukoh did express optimism that the Eagles can over run Sudan if they repeat the performance against the Elephant of CIV on Sunday night.
“If we can repeat the Stella performance against the Ivory Coast, I think we can get some positive result from the next game against Sudan,”he said.
Ukoh, 23, seem to be enjoying a full support from his family and he is also enjoying the company of his new team mates in the Eagles, playing against big stars like the African player of the year, Yaya Toure could be a huge task but Ukoh said he was very calm in his debut for Nigeria against Ivory Coast.
“I feel at home with the squad, it’s like a big family and I’m very well received.
“My dad came here to see me play, he’ll be here to see me play in the next match and all my family members saw the match on TV.
“Actually it’s an honor to play against such grate players like Yaya Toure who is the African player of the year, you see them play on TV for big European clubs but really it’s a pleasure and I was very calm playing against them,”Steve Ukoh stated.
