Luis Alberto Suarez Diaz is a Uruguayan striker who plays for FC Barcelona. He was born on 24th January, 1987 in Salto, Uruguay.

Luis Suarez is many things. Outrageously talented, Unpredictable and Controversial. He is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world.

* Suarez had previously played for Nacional, Groningen, Ajax, and Liverpool.

* While playing for Nacional, at age 16 he head-butted the referee following a red card.

* Suarez scored six goals in a cup game against WHC Wezep which Ajax won 14-1.

* He scored 111 goals in 159 games for Ajax joining the club’s elite Legends including Johan Cruyff, Marco Van Basten and Denis Bergkamp who scored 100 goals and above.

* His nickname is ‘El Pistolero’ which means ‘The gun-fighter’

* At Liverpool, he became the first non-european player to ever win the PFA Players’ Player of the Year Award. Which he won in 2014.

* During his time at Liverpool, Suarez scored 3 hat-tricks against Norwich making him the first player in the BPL to score 3 hat-tricks against the same team.

* He is Uruguay’s leading scorer with 40 goals in 78 matches (as of 11th October, 2014)

* Suarez was ranked Number 1 in ‘Europe’s most influential player’ list of 2013-2014 by bloomberg, ahead of Messi, Cristiano and Ibrahimovic.

* He met his wife, Sofia when he was just 15 together, they have a son Benjamin, and a daughter Delfina whose name is an anagram of Liverpools statium, Anfield.

* He is the third most expensive footballer in history after Barcelona paid an astonishing £75million to get him.

Suárez has been the source of much controversy throughout his career. As well as his 2010 World Cup goal-line handball, he has also bitten three opponents, Otman Bakkal (PSV), Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea) and the latest being Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini at the 2014 World cup.
He was found guilty by FA of racially abusing Patrice Evra, a decision Suárez disputes.
