The Nigeria international’s fourth spell in Turkey is going better than anyone could have imagined
Super Eagles winger Henry Onyekuru has won the hearts of Adana Demirspor manager Vincenzo Montella and the rest of his technical crew.
So much so that just over three months into Onyekuru’s season-long loan spell in Turkey, Adana Demirspor have kicked off plans to make the Nigerian star’s stay at the club permanent.
Onyekuru joined Adana Demirspor on July 10 until the end of the season after an unsuccessful year at Greek side Olympiakos. The former Galatasaray man managed only one goal in 14 league appearances for the Legends.
But Onyekuru has become one of manager Montella’s most consistent performers, starting all of Adana’s eleven league games and contributing three goals and two assists.
And the Italian manager is keen to have the ex-Everton signing remain with the Blue Lightnings beyond next summer.
According to Aksam, Adana Demirspor will start transfer talks with Olympiakos, with a four million euros fee expected to convince the Greeks to part with the 25-year-old.
Adana Demirspor paid one million euros to Olympiakos to get Onyekuru on loan in the summer.
Olympiakos secured the permanent signing of the Super Eagles star from Monaco last year for €4.5 million.
