The latest round of games across Europe’s domestic leagues and other competitions is over, and yet again, Nigerian stars were in action for their clubs.
It was a quiet weekend for most of the Super Eagles stars, but a few delivered brilliant performances for their clubs.
As a result, Soccernet names the Super Eagles players that make the team of the week.
Goalkeeper: (Daniel Akpeyi): Akpeyi takes his place in goal after keeping a clean sheet in Kaizer Chiefs 0-0 draw against Marumo Gallants in the Dstv Premiership.
In a match that saw both teams receive red cards, Akpeyi made a couple of saves to ensure Chiefs earned a point away from home.
While Akpeyi kept a clean sheet, his Super Eagles rival, Maduka Okoye, conceded four goals for the second time this season in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Defenders: (Chidozie Awaziem, Leon Balogun and Kenneth Omeruo): Awaziem, Balogun and Omeruo form a three-man defence after their exploits for their respective clubs.
Awaziem put in another impressive shift as Alanyaspor played a 1-1 draw at Trabzonspor. The former Leganes defender, who is yet to lose a game for the Turkish side, put in three tackles and made seven clearances in the game.
Meanwhile, Omeruo helped Leganes to a 2-1 win at Mirandes with two tackles and five clearances. In Scotland, Balogun made two interceptions and three clean sheets to help Rangers to a 1-0 victory over Dundee FC.
Midfielders: (Kelechi Iheanacho, Joe Aribo and Frank Onyeka): Onyeka partners Aribo and Iheanacho in the middle of the park.
Onyeka was in action for 68 minutes to help Brentford secure an impressive 3-3 draw against Liverpool in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, at the King Power Stadium, Kelechi Iheanacho came on in the second half to set up the equaliser for Jamie Vardy as Leicester City played a 2-2 draw against Burnley.
In the Scottish Premiership, Joe Aribo scored the only goal of the game as Rangers secured a hard-fought win against Dundee FC.
Wingers/Wingbacks( Moses Simon and Chidera Ejuke): Simon and Ejuke occupy the flanks following their impressive performance for Nantes and CSKA Moscow, respectively.
Simon has been one of Nantes best players this season, having provided five assists. He turned from provider to scorer on Sunday as he scored Les Canaries’ goal in their 3-1 loss at Rennes.
And on Monday night, Ejuke registered an assist as CSKA Moscow beat Nizhny Novgorod 2-0 in their Russian Premier League clash.
Ejuke was unplayable for the 83 minutes he played. The Super Eagles winger had a pass accuracy of 88%, including two key passes, with one leading to a goal.
Strikers (Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu): The strikers are easy picks. Osimhen continued his impressive form after he opened the scoring in Napoli’s 2-0 win over Cagliari.
The Nigerian now has six goals in six games for the Neapolitans this season. Meanwhile, Onuachu also maintained his brilliant record in front of goal as his hat-trick helped Genk to a comfortable victory over Seraing.
