Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr released the 23-man list of players to face the Samba boys on October 13 in Singapore with the team captain’s name omitted for the second friendly game in a row.
Captain Ahmed Musa will not be a part of the Super Eagles party preparing to face Brazil in a fortnight as Gernot Rohr has named Club Brugge’s Dennis Emmanuel in his place. There is also a first time call up for Slavia Prague’s Peter Olayinka following the forward’s goalscoring display in the Champions League against Inter Milan last week.
But the surprise omission is that of Musa who was the team’s vice-captain before John Obi Mikel announced his retirement after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Super Eagles’ fans have been quick to notice and point out the omission but the wing wizard, who currently plies his trade for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, has come out to declare that it was injury that was keeping him out of the side and not any perceived mischief.
“Am injured that’s why,” the speedy forward wrote on his official Twitter handle in response to a query from a fan who wanted to know why Ahmed Musa would not be in the Brazil party.

Recall that Ahmed Musa was not in the Nigeria squad that played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against Ukraine in Dnipro a couple of weeks ago.
