Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi supplied the assist for Tottenham’s solitary goal in their 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.
Fulham returned to Premier League action with a fixture at Tottenham. Recall that last time out, Fulham suffered a 4-1 loss at home to Wolves. And at Spurs, only a top display would be enough to seal the three points.
Tottenham dominated the first half, and pushed hard to score. But Fulham put up a strong display with Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey putting in a good shift, albeit the woodwork his side’s blushes multiple times. Fulham also had some attacking forrays, but they failed to convert any of their chances.
The second half was just like the first, but it had more goals. Tottenham took the lead courtesy of a 54th-minute strike from Brennan Johnson. But 13 minutes later, Fulham got back into the game, and Iwobi had a hand in it.
The Super Eagles star played a pass to Tom Cairney just in front of the box, and he struck a powerful shot into the right corner to make it 1-1.
Unfortunately for Fulham, they were reduced to ten men in the 83rd minute after Cairney got sent off for a horrible tackle.
Nonetheless, Bassey put in a solid shift at center-back to ensure that his side stayed in the game. It eventually ended 1-1 after 90 minutes.
Iwobi had a good game as he registered a 76% pass accuracy, two successful dribbles, and three goal attempts. He also created two big chances.
