Ola Aina has reportedly left the Super Eagles camp and returned to Nottingham Forest, raising concerns about his fitness ahead of Nigeria’s clash against Rwanda on Monday, Soccernet.ng reports.
In a video recorded by Alex Iwobi en route to the Super Eagles camp, Aina was seen interacting with teammates Ademola Lookman and Calvin Bassey.
During the exchange, the former Torino defender could be heard saying, “I am not doing well, sir. I am not doing fine,” which sparked speculation about a possible injury.

Aina featured prominently in Nigeria’s recent clash against Benin Republic under the watchful eyes of interim Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguaveon.
The versatile defender showcased his impressive abilities on the right flank, which contributed significantly to the team’s efforts.
A memorable moment from the match saw Aina attempting to dribble past a Beninese player. Although he lost the initial duel, he invited his opponent to try again, eventually dribbling past him before drawing a foul.

While Nigeria has already secured qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), courtesy of Victor Osimhen’s crucial 81st-minute strike that salvaged a draw against Benin, the upcoming match against Rwanda is now largely inconsequential.
With Aina unavailable, per reports, Nasarawa United defender Victor Collins is expected to step in as a replacement, offering the youngster an opportunity to shine.
The rest of the Super Eagles squad has returned to Nigeria to prepare for Monday’s encounter, while Aina has headed back to England to rejoin Nottingham Forest.
