Reigning French Ligue 1 champions PSG could back down from their pursuit of Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman despite his great start to the campaign, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman was one of the most talked about players during the last summer transfer window. And it was due to his hattrick in the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen. That performance shook Europe and put him on the radar of top teams in the top five of leagues.
French kings PSG, and English sides Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea appeared to be seriously interested in signing the 27-year-old forward. However, they failed to meet Atalanta’s demands, ensuring that Lookman remained at the club.
This season, the Super Eagles star has registered five goals and five assists in ten appearances for Atalanta. However, it seems some of his admirers are backing off.
According to Ekrem Konur, PSG do not appear to be seriously interested in signing Lookman anymore.
PSG are having a decent season, and they seem to have sorted their right wing as Bradley Barcola has been impressive. So, signing Lookman for big money would not fit their mode of operation at the moment.
Nonetheless, the Premier League clubs will be witching the current situation and could swoop in.
