Italian giants, Napoli, have picked an interest in Nigeria and OGC Nice striker, Terem Igbofor Moffi, as they look to find an ideal replacement for Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen has scored 74 goals and provided 18 assists in 129 games for Napoli since joining from LOSC Lille in 2020, and is all but set to move to greener pastures as he enters the peak of his career.
Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Chelsea are keen on the services of the 25-year-old striker but will have to the €120m release clause in the Nigerian’s contract.
In a bid to search for a replacement, the Napoli hierarchy are looking at several strikers. Victor Boniface, Joshua Zirkzee, Jonathan David and Santiago have been mentioned, but these names will cost the club a fortune, as the parent clubs of these players are not looking to let them leave for meagre fees.
Soccernet.ng earlier reported that Napoli were interested in OGC Nice’s Terem Moffi last summer when it was rumoured that Osimhen was leaving the club, instead, the former Wolfsburg striker opted to stay with the three-time Serie A Champions.
As per Tutto Napoli, the Italian giants have rekindled their interest in Moffi as he possesses a similar profile to Osimhen. They are particularly pleased with Moffi’s performance against PSG where he scored a brace as OGC Nice defeated the French Champions at the Parc des Princes.
The former Lorient man is valued at about 30 million euros, about half of the money that Feyenoord asks for Santiago Gimenez, for which at least 60 million euros would be needed.
As per Get Football France, Lille have also slapped a €60m price tag on Jonathan David who has scored 17 goals in the league this season, meaning Moffi would be the cheapest option for Napoli.
Moffi has scored 51 goals and provided 12 assists in 129 Ligue 1 games, playing across FC Lorient and OGC Nice.
