Chido Obi: Arsenal wonderkid reacts as Nigeria-eligible youngster debuts for Man United

Chido Obi Martins’ former Arsenal academy teammate, Max Dowman, has shown support for the Nigeria-eligible youngster following his debut for Manchester United against Tottenham, Soccernet.ng reports.

However, the Red Devils fell to a loss on the road, with James Maddison’s goal separating the side from the 13th minute of the game.

The young forward made his long-awaited Premier League debut in the 1-0 defeat to Spurs as the only changes made by Ruben Amorim.

Following this, Dowman took to Instagram to show support for Obi as he took to his social media page to share an image of the youngster with the caption “My brother,”.

Obi, who joined the Old Trafford outfits last summer after struggling for game time under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, was handed his first senior appearance by the Portuguese gaffer.

The Danish youth international replaced Casemiro in the 90th minute, but with little time left on the clock, he did not get a single touch of the ball before the final whistle.

Despite the brief appearance, Obi expressed gratitude for the opportunity.

“Disappointed with the loss. On a personal note, thanks to the gaffer and the club for making a dream come true for me and my family,” he wrote on Instagram.

Interestingly, Obi remains eligible to represent Nigeria, England, or Denmark at the senior international level which sets up a potential battle for his allegiance in the future.

The 19-year-old, who became the 252nd academy graduate to feature for Manchester United, will be hoping for more opportunities with the Manchester-based club in the future.
