“We were unlucky” – Sadiq personalizes Valencia’s loss to Madrid, highlights plans for new side

Super Eagles and Valencia striker, Sadiq Umar, has revealed he’s ready to get into action for his new side after joining on loan from Real Sociedad, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old struggled for game time during his stay at San Sebastian and was desperate for an exit to put his career back on track.

Sadiq finalized his move to Valencia today, joining the Los Ches on a six-month loan deal with an option to buy included.

Despite just signing for his new side, the former Rangers striker has already had a training session with Carlos Corberan’s men, and can’t wait to get settled in.

“When I started talking to Miguel, I realized that there was a lot of coincidence between Valencia CF and me because in me there is a lot of hunger and I have also seen that because of the situation of the Club, he is also very hungry and I have seen this coincidence that made me choose to come here.

For about three weeks, they’ve been in touch with me. Valencia CF is one of the most important clubs in Spain and we are in the same situation of hunger and growth in both.

To be a striker in Valencia is not normal. The club is hungry as they demonstrated yesterday [against Real Madrid], but we were unlucky. I’ve talked with the coach and he explained what they need from me. They need us all to fight. That is the mission: to fight for Valencia CF. The most important thing is to focus on the team’s work. As a striker, I want to score goals and have the best possible results,” the Super Eagle said in quotes revealed by the club’s official website.

Sadiq could make his Valencia debut in the Copa Del Rey on Tuesday when his new side takes on second-tier Spanish side, Eldense.

However, the club are 19th on the league table and are in real danger of relegation if they don’t pick up points in the second half of the season.
