Europa League: Victor Osimhen strikes as profligate Galatasaray stumble against Dynamo Kyiv

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored for Galatasaray, but it was not enough for them as they settled for a 3-3 draw against Dynamo Kyiv at Rams Park, Soccernet.ng reports

Osimhen has been in fine form for Galatasaray since he joined the club last summer. Last week, he scored once to help them to a 1-1 draw at Hatayspor.

He still maintained his place in the starting lineup when they welcomed Dynamo Kyiv Turkey for their seventh Europa League game of the season.

The Turkish kings needed just six minutes before they jumped into the driver’s seat, as Davinson Sanchez scored the opener for Galatasaray. 15 minutes later, Abdulkerim Bardakci scored the  second. It was looking like it was going to be a routine win for the Turkish champions. However, Dynamo Kyiv scored just before the break to make it 2-1.

Galatasaray got their third through Osimhen, just eight minutes into the second half to make it 3-1. The Nigerian striker calmly converted from the spot to give his side a cushion.

Unfortunately for them, Osimhen’s goal was not enough for them to see out the win. Galatasaray crumbled in the last 25 minutes, as goals from Andriy Yarmolenko ensured that it ended 3-3 after 90 minutes.

Despite Osimhen’s goal, it was a disappointing outing for the Super Eagles star, he he registered eight attempts on goal. Osimhen missed gout big opportunities in the game.

The result leaves Galatasaray in 5th place in the Europa League standings, pending the result of the other fixtures.
