Atalanta President Antonio Percassi has revealed that Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal have shown interest in signing Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman has been the subject of numerous transfer talks in recent months due to his impressive performances for Atalanta.
Last season, he was key in La Dea’s run-up to the UEFA Europa League, scoring an impressive hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.
Last summer, the 27-year-old Super Eagles star was heavily linked with a transfer away from Bergamo, but none of the speculations materialized.
However, the talks have not stopped, and La Dea are not in a good position as Lookman’s deal runs out at the end of next season.
They have failed to tie down the Nigerian striker to a new deal and they risk losing him on a free if he fails to sign an extension. Nonetheless, it does not look like the Nigerian will leave the club this January.
But ahead of the summer transfer window, Atalanta President Percassi has confirmed that the club want to keep him. However, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool showing interest in Lookman, Percassi admits that Atalanta might have to sell if he does not commit to the club.
“We will do everything at the end of the season to keep Lookman, but he must not remain reluctantly. After all, we replaced Zapata, Papu Gomez, Muriel…”
“The big English teams like Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are on the Nigerian striker,” Percassi said, per Nico Schira.
Lookman is currently valued at €55 million on Transfermarkt, but Atalanta could demand up to €80 million before they let him leave.
The Super Eagles star will also be looking to leave for a bigger club and add some silverware to his cabinet.
