Galatasaray could lose the Super Lig if Victor Osimhen leaves- Ex-Besiktas midfielder

Former Besiktas midfielder Sinan Engin believe Galatasaray will find it harder to win the Turkish Super Lig if Victor Osimhen leaves the club, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen has been immense for Galatasaray since he joined them in the summer. The Nigerian striker has registered 12 goals and five assists in 15 appearances across all competitions. His performances have been key in Galatasaray’s success this season.

The Lions currently sit at the summit of the Super Lig with 44 goals after 16 games. They are also the highest-scoring team in the Super Lig with 47 goals. They have won the last three titles, and with their form, a fourth successive triumph looks very likely.

Currently, Osimhen is the major marksman at Galatasaray, as Argentine striker Mauro Icardi has been sidelined for the rest of the season due to an anterior cruciate ligament.

There have been a lot of talk about a possible Osimhen exit, and even though coach Orkan Buruk has assured that the Nigerian will not leave Istanbul, a proper offer could cause a shift in plans.

Meanwhile, former Besiktas man Engin believes that losing Osimhen could be fatal to Galatasaray’s title hopes. This is as he believe that finding a replacement for the 25-year-old striker would be difficult.

“If Osimhen leaves Galatasaray in January, the balance in the Championship race may be disrupted,” Engin said, per Galatasaray Gazetesi.

Having Osimhen in their team is one of the biggest achievements that Galatasaray have achieved in many years. The club would surely do everything possible to meet the Super Eagles star until the end of the season.
