“It gave us confidence” – Osimhen eyes Super Eagles boost after Galatasaray brace

Super Eagles' Victor Osimhen scored his eighth goal for Galatasaray in their 3-2 victory against Samsunspor

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen is set to rejoin the national team after being named in Augustine Eguavoen’s squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen missed Nigeria’s recent doubleheader against Libya but returns in top form after an impressive performance for Galatasaray.

Ahead of the Super Eagles’ crucial matches, Osimhen scored twice in Galatasaray’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Samsunspor, which he sees as a confidence boost heading into his national duties.

After the game, the Napoli-owned striker expressed his excitement and confidence following his strong showing. Reflecting on the match, Osimhen highlighted how the victory lifted his and his teammates’ spirits as they prepare to join their respective national teams.

“The victory was important,” Osimhen shared. “We will go to the Super Eagles with this self-confidence. When we return, we have the power to win every match.”

Osimhen, who has quickly become a fan favourite in Istanbul, dedicated the victory to Galatasaray’s passionate supporters, who have shown him overwhelming support since his arrival.

“I am very happy at Galatasaray,” he said. “The fans love me very much. I dedicate the victory to them.”

His standout performance in Turkey’s Super Lig has bolstered Galatasaray’s position in the league, where they currently hold a six-point lead with a game in hand.

With eight goals in nine appearances, the Nigerian football community is eagerly anticipating Osimhen’s contributions as Nigeria prepares to face Benin and Rwanda.
