Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi expressed his frustration after the Foxes were held to a 2-2 draw by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, Soccernet.ng reports.
Despite a commanding 2-0 lead early in the second half, a late fightback from Palace saw the hosts snatch a point, leaving Leicester still searching for their first Premier League win of the 2024/25 season.
Ndidi, who played a key role in both of Leicester’s goals, was understandably disappointed with the outcome.
Speaking after the match, the Nigerian international said,
“It was very disappointing because we know we almost had it, so it was really disappointing. The result does not reflect on the performance.”
Leicester opened the scoring in the 36th minute when Ndidi won possession in midfield and set up Jamie Vardy, who calmly rounded goalkeeper Sam Johnstone to score.
Just after the restart, Ndidi provided another assist, this time finding Stephy Mavididi, who fired in his first Premier League goal to double Leicester’s lead.
However, the Foxes were unable to hold on. Crystal Palace pulled one back through Jean-Philippe Mateta and, in stoppage time, Mateta scored again from the penalty spot to secure a share of the spoils for the hosts.
Reflecting on the result, Ndidi highlighted the unpredictable nature of the Premier League.
“This is the Premier League and anything can happen at any moment. You could see the fight that Crystal Palace had,” the Super Eagles star explained.
Despite the disappointment, Ndidi praised his team’s effort and coach Steve Cooper’s tactical approach.
“We’ve got quality players and a brilliant coach. He gives us the freedom to actually get on the ball and be aggressive off the ball,” Ndidi said.
Leicester’s next challenge comes against Everton, and Ndidi believes a single victory could transform their season.
“If we just get one win, I know we’re going to fly. There’s so much confidence and positivity with the things we did in the game,” he concluded.
