Why Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen will miss Galatasaray’s clash with Gaziantep

Super Eagles' Victor Osimhen joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli and made a quick impression against Rizespor

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is set to miss Galatasaray’s upcoming clash against Gaziantep, scheduled to take place at RAMS Park, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian forward, who recently made headlines with his season-long loan move from Napoli, has been ruled out for the game, raising questions among Nigerian football fans.

According to reports circulating in the Turkish media, the match was scheduled before the former LOSC Lille forward’s arrival, and he was not registered in time to participate.

As a result, the Nigerian attacker is ineligible to don the Yellow-Reds’ colours for this fixture. Instead, Michy Batshuayi is expected to lead the line against Gaziantep.

Osimhen is expected to return for Galatasaray in their much-anticipated Istanbul Derby clash against Fenerbahce this weekend, where he will hope to make his mark against Jose Mourinho’s side.

The 25-year-old made an immediate impact for Gala in his debut against Rizespor, heading a ball towards the net that was ultimately credited as an assist after it touched Abdulkerim Bardakci.

Despite the technicality, the Nigeria international is poised for a strong season with Galatasaray and will be aiming to open his goal account when they face the Yellow Canaries in the fierce derby clash this weekend.
