Super Eagles star makes winning Bundesliga debut as Maja and Musa impress in England and China

Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka made his Bundesliga debut on Sunday and he impressed as Augsburg earned a fine 3-1 victory over St Pauli, Soccernet.ng reports.

Onyeka joined Augsburg on loan from Brentford in August and was named in the club’s starting lineup as they played host to St Pauli at the WWK Arena.

After Marius Wolf gave Augsburg the lead moments into the second half, Onyeka then laid the assist for Philip Tietz to double the home team’s advantage in the 66th minute.

St Pauli threatened a comeback when Germany’s Carlo Boukhalfa struck in the 74th minute but Yusuf Kabadayı’s stoppage-time goal sealed a first Bundesliga win for Augsburg.

England

Josh Maja and Semi Ajayi featured prominently for West Bromwich Albion in their deserved 3-0 away win over Portsmouth in the Championship.

Maja netted the game’s first goal seconds after the referee blew the starting whistle and Ajayi contributed to the Baggies’ third clean sheet in five league games.

The win sees West Brom return to the top of the Championship table with 13 points, one more than closest challenger Sunderland.

China

In the Chinese League One, Sabir Musa delivered a man-of-the-match performance to inspire Liaoning Tieren to a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Yanbian Longding.

After a goalless first half, Musa broke the deadlock for the hosts in the 55th minute before setting up João Carlos to net the second goal ten minutes later.

Moldova

Rasheed Akanbi got his first goal of the season to help propel Sheriff to a convincing 4-0 win away to Floresti in a Super Liga game played at the Stadion Dinamo in Tighina.

Scotland

Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers claimed the assist to the only goal of the match as Rangers edged to a slim 1-0 Premiership win at Dundee United.

United States

Patrick ‘Diba’ Nwegbo scored one of the consolation goals for Birmingham Legion as they fell to a 4-2 defeat to Loudoun United in the USL Championship.
