Gift Orban’s joy cut short as toothless Lyon get gagged at Lens

Nigerian striker Gift Orban got his first start of the season, but he failed to score for Lyon as they were held to a goalless draw at Lens, Soccernet.ng reports.

Lyon returned to Ligue 1 action with a home game against Lens at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis on Sunday. Lyon have been on a roller-coaster since the start of the season, and it was expected to be a tough game for them.

Nigerian striker Orban got his first Ligue 1 start of the season. Of course it was a reward for his heroics last time out, when he scored a brace to help Lyon overcome Strasbourg.

Lyon dominated the easy proceedings and they looked liked the better side. It looked like Orban had given them an early lead in the 10th minute after a great finish in the box. Unfortunately for him, his goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR review.

Aside from that chance, Orban did not get any other opportunity to trouble the keeper in the first half. But in the second half, the 22-year-old hitman scored again. Unfortunately for him, it was ruled out for offside again.

Orban got 65 minutes of action before he was taken off for Georges Mikautadze. Still, neither Lyon nor Lens were able to score. It eventually ended goalless at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.
