Manchester City midfielder, İlkay Gündoğan, has reacted to Victor Osimhen’s shocking move to Turkish side, Galatasaray, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen was keen on exiting the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium before the transfer window slammed shut, but Napoli were unwilling to listen to offers below the 25-year-old’s €130m release clause.
After trying to force a move which didn’t happen, the former LOSC Lille man was banned from Napoli’s first team and training sessions for the season.
The Super Eagles forward was left out in the cold, before Turkish giants, Galatasaray, swooped in with a loan offer for the CAF Player of the Year. The deal was completed in quick succession, leaving many stunned at the quick turnaround of events regarding Osimhen’s future.
About 50,000 Galatasaray supporters turned out in droves and stayed out until the early hours of the morning to welcome new signing Victor Osimhen, and the show of love from the Turkish fans left İlkay Gündoğan in awe.
Following an official statement from Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Gündoğan replied to the post on Instagram, expressing his awe.
Osimhen’s transfer to Galatasaray includes a clause that’ll allow him join other top clubs in Europe when the winter transfer window opens in January.
In the meantime, the former VfL Wolfsburg man is gearing up for Nigeria’s upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Rwanda and the Republic of Benin.
