Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze scored for AC Milan to help them claim a hard-fought 1-0 win against Spanish Laliga champions Real Madrid, Soccernet.ng reports.
Chukwueze started pre-season on a good note on wednesday, helping AC Milan with two assists in their 3-2 win over Manchester City.
The Super Eagles star looked quite sharp and lively in that game, and coach Paulo Fonseca gave him a starting shirt against Real Madrid when they met in a friendly game at Soldier Field stadium on thursday.
Before the game, Chukwueze had a good record against Real Madrid, with three goals and two assists from nine games. Recall that the Nigerian winger was at Laliga club Villarreal for six years before joining the Rossoneri last year.
AC Milan dominated the early proceedings against Real Madrid. Los Blancos were without some of their big stars, so some of the second team players got opportunities to start.
The first half ended goalless, but the second half witnessed more action. AC Milan eventually broke the deadlock in the 55th minute after a nicely worked move.
Mattia Liberali won the ball in midfield, ran forward, and sprayed a pass to Chukwueze who was running into space on the right. The Super Eagles star made no mistake, as he struck a low shot that beat Andriy Lunin and gave Milan a 1-0 lead.
Chukwueze nearly turned provider few minutes later after setting up Christian Pulisic and Liberali. But they failed to convert their efforts.
Chukwueze had a brilliant game and was taken off in the 78th minute. In the end, it was the Nigerian striker’s goal that was the difference between AC Milan and Real Madrid.
