Napoli prioritizing transfer of former Everton star before settling Victor Osimhen’s future

Napoli are looking to conclude the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea before they work on Victor Osimhen’s departure, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen’s future has dominated transfer talks this summer following three impressive seasons at Napoli. The Nigerian striker has registered 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 appearances for the Partenopeans, and his displays have attracted some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Last summer, some clubs showed interest in signing the Super Eagles star, but Napoli held on to him and got him to pen a new deal. However, by the end of last season, it was clear that the reigning CAF Player of the Year was going to leave Napoli.

Still, even after two weeks into the new season, Osimhen’s next destination remains unknown. PSG, Chelsea, and Arsenal have all been heavily linked with the Nigerian superstar, but nothing concrete is on the table.

Meanwhile, aside from Napoli’s Sporting director Giovanni Manna, who confirmed that Osimhen will leave this summer, the club have been quiet about Osimhen’s future.

Now, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Napoli are focused on completing the signing of Lukaku from Chelsea first. Once they seal the transfer, they will find a solution to Osimhen’s situation.

The Partenopeans are yet to even agree on a deal with Chelsea as at the time of this report. But if Osimhen is going to leave Naples this summer, all parties have to reach a compromise soon because the transfer market closes in eight days.
