Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers is attracting interest from clubs in France, Spain, Greece, and Saudi Arabia, as Rangers set his transfer fee at ₦8.6 billion (£4.5 million), Soccernet.ng reports.
According to Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack, French and Spanish clubs have joined Greek side PAOK in expressing interest in Dessers. His situation is also being closely monitored by clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Dessers, 29, had a mixed debut season with Rangers, scoring 22 goals but also facing criticism for some performances.
Despite this, his goal tally made his signing a success, especially compared to Sam Lammers, another player signed during the same window who struggled and was loaned out to the Eredivisie.
Rangers appear ready to sell Dessers given the growing interest in him. Although keeping him as a second or third-choice striker is an option, the club is inclined to cash in.
Dessers has played for eight clubs in ten years, including stints in the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and Scotland. His 16 goals in the Scottish Premiership last season are the highest he has managed in a top division.
Dessers’ journeyman career shows no signs of slowing down, and with multiple clubs interested, it looks like he will be on the move again. The upcoming transfer window will be crucial in determining his next destination, with Rangers set to make a decision on his future.
Meanwhile, football analyst Dan Bardell has urged Glasgow Rangers not to consider shipping out Dessers this summer.
Bardell hinted that Rangers could struggle without the Super Eagles striker, who could build on his first-season exploits next campaign.
