Arsenal set to table offer for award-winning Nigeria star with 9 UEFA Champions League goals

Arsenal have been linked with top strikers throughout the summer transfer window and it is now a matter of time before they make a move for Nigeria’s striking jewel Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Gunners need attacking reinforcements as last season showed it would take Mikel Arteta’s men more than the efforts of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus to unseat Pep Guardiola’s unstoppable Manchester City.

The North London giants have been credited with interest in Ivan Toney, Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres, and Victor Osimhen but they have made no concrete move yet concerning any of these strikers.

However, according to Sky Sports reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal can now make an offer soon for Napoli attacker Osimhen.

PSG have been leading the race to sign Osimhen all summer but the French champions have not made much breakthrough in their transfer negotiations with Napoli.

While a couple of Saudi Arabian clubs are also long-time admirers of the Super Eagles forward, it is an open secret that playing in the Premier League is the 25-year-old’s dream.

A consistent goalscorer over the past few seasons, Osimhen’s pace, power, intelligence, ability in the air, and finishing nous will add huge value to the Arsenal attack.

The Nigerian attacker helped Napoli win their first league title in over three decades when he fired them to a Serie A title win in 2022-23.

Considered one of the best attackers in world football right now, Osimhen has scored an astonishing 135 career goals, including 65 in Serie A, nine in the UEFA Champions League, and 21 for the Nigerian national team.

He is the reigning CAF Africa Footballer of the Year, an award he claimed in December, becoming the first Nigerian to do so in two-and-a-half decades.
